Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (HLTAID009)
This course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively perform essential life support technique of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Fully certified in-person training course.

- Identifying, assessing and minimising immediate hazards

- Assessing a conscious/unconscious casualty accurately (DRSABCD)
- Effective performance of CPR in adults, children and infants
- Safe demonstration of AED
- Recognising the difference between adult and child AED mode
- Providing an accurate verbal handover to paramedics
- Recognise psychological impact and management of stress
- Reviewing the incident
Course Prerequisites
This course is flexible in delivery and comprises of a pre-course online component followed by an in-person practical training. Around 95% of our students prefer the method above (as opposed to attending an in-person half day session) as it’s more cost effective, and convenient. However, if you prefer attending the half day in-person session please contact us to arrange course dates.
Participants will be required to undertake practical training and assessments. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin for a period of two minutes. If you have restrictions of mobility or an injury which will impact your ability to perform CPR please let us know know prior to booking.
Participants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of attendance. Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian. Please contact us if you require a consent form.
Duration of the course
The course contains 30-60 minutes of online learning and 90-minute in-person practical course.
Course Prerequisites

Pre-study takes on average 0.5-1 hours depending on your previous experience. 95% of students prefer the online method (as opposed to attending half day session) as it is convenient and cost effective. However, if you prefer attending full face to face learning rather than doing online study at home, please contact to us. We can arrange course dates.
Participants are required to undertake practical training and assessments at floor level. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin for a period of two minutes. If you have restrictions of mobility or an injury which will impact on your CPR performance, please discuss this with us prior to booking.

Qualification Issued
Statement of Attainment in the following units of competency:
- HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
A certificate (PDF) will be issued following completion of the course.
Qualification Validity
One year from date of issue.
As per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, Health Education Institute recommends that resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months.
